Our second AGM

We held our second AGM on Friday 29th January from 10.30 – 11.30am virtually via Zoom. We were pleased to be joined by over 20 attendees, both our volunteers and member Volunteer Involving Organisations. It was a chance to share our work between Oct 2019 – Sept 2020.

Our Acting Chair John Sutton opened the meeting; CEO Kerry Smith then introduced everybody present before sharing a 2-minute film we made in September last year. The film, originally made as part of the ‘Causes that Matter Campaign’, run by Kent Community Foundation, captures the opportunities and challenges at the start of the Covid-19 pandemic and subsequent first lockdown:

Kerry then gave a brief look at KCV’s Annual Report – special thanks are sent to volunteer Michael Addley for the design and graphics of this year’s report. You can view the report here

After reflecting on the past year, matters moved to the formal business with Members being invited to consider and vote on six ordinary resolutions. KCV Finance Manager Paul Gibbons presented an overview of KCV’s Income and Expenditure, explaining that the pandemic has severely impacted KCV’s income generating activities, e.g. Community Transport. However, he was pleased to report that, thanks to the generous support of funders and emergency and resilience funding, Kent Coast Volunteering is in a strong position going forward despite the challenges of the past year.

Last, but not least, KCV staff Mandy Sangiuseppe and Samantha Howlett gave presentations on services that we offer to support Volunteer Involving Organisations. Mandy, KCV’s Volunteer Connector, spoke about how KCV can help Volunteer Involving Organisations to recruit volunteers on our Simply Connect platform. Please see https://kcv.org.uk/organisations/ or contact Mandy at mandy.sangiuseppe@kcv.org.uk for further information.

Samantha Howlett, Senior Project Co-ordinator, relaunched KCV’s DBS Service, giving an overview of what DBS checks are, who can access them and the services we offer. All details can be found at https://kcv.org.uk/dbs/ or contact dbs@kcv.org.uk
