National Lottery funding creates new jobs and cements strategic role for Kent Coast Volunteering

The new grant from the UK’s biggest funder of community activity will allow Kent Coast Volunteering to further support charities, voluntary and community groups who impact quality of life for residents in Kent’s coastal communities, through the power of volunteering and social action.
Kent Coast Volunteering is celebrating today after being awarded £386,332 in National Lottery funding to cement their work in the communities of East Kent for the next three years and creating five new jobs.
KCV Chief Executive Officer Kerry Smith explains: “Charities and volunteering exist to make the world a better place, making our communities meaningful and vibrant places to live and work. They mobilise and provide when there is a need, they inspire, they advocate, and they unite our communities. However, for them to continue to thrive, they must be supported and promoted.
“The role of KCV is to strengthen the voluntary sector, acting as a ‘connector’ to bring people and organisations together to make things happen. Providing tools and advice on everything from funding and volunteer recruitment to peer learning opportunities and best practice in the sector.
“To enable us to become this one-stop-shop, we have needed to invest in our infrastructure, creating new jobs to ensure that grass roots organisations across our areas of operation in Dover, Folkestone & Hythe and Thanet, can successfully deliver the important work they do.
“This vital funding will allow KCV to continue to amplify excellence in the sector and to innovate and collaborate in bigger and more exciting ways than ever before. With the backdrop of the Cost-of-Living Crisis and rising energy bills, we extend our sincerest gratitude to The National Lottery Community Fund for investing in a future we are excited to be building.”
