The Good Neighbours Service is a volunteer befriending service aimed at reducing the feeling of loneliness and isolation among older people in our community.
Our Good Neighbours Service is open to lonely and isolated people, who live alone, and our volunteer befrienders can help by visiting you for a cup of tea and a chat.
Our volunteers are not carers, cleaners or nurses, but can help by simply being a friend. We hope to help you gain in confidence so that you can leave the house, use technology or just to build a lasting friendship.
We have been running our Good Neighbours Service for over 10 years and have over 140 befriending matches and going strong.
Rest assured, too, that each and every one of our befrienders has undergone a rigorous checking and training process before joining being introduced to you. This process includes: Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks; receipt of satisfactory references; a face-to-face interview and induction with one of our team members.Click Here
