Coronavirus - Updates to our Services

On 16th March 2020 the Government advised the nation to avoid all non-essential social contact in order to slow the spread of Coronavirus. In line with this advice, Kent Coast Volunteering made a series of decisions regarding our services. Following the Prime Minster's guidance a week later, on 23rd March, to stay home, protect the NHS and save lives, we have further updates concerning Volunteering, our Volunteer Driver Community Transport and Thanet Over Fifties Forum.

Our online service is unaffected. We are proud to have launched a dedicated webpage each for Dover, Folkestone & Hythe and Thanet, offering opportunities to volunteer in each of the districts during this crisis. You can navigate to these pages from our homepage.

Disclosure & Barring Service

This service is still being delivered subject to staff being fit for work. However, please note that face to face applications are on hold for the time being. DBS Application Forms can still only be sent out to registered organisations that have completed Verifier Training.

Volunteer Driver Community Transport

The Volunteer Driver Community Transport scheme has been suspended. Many of the volunteer drivers are themselves over 70, so your understanding during this challenging period is much appreciated.

Good Neighbours Service (Befriending)

All Befrienders will now maintain a phone/ online befriending service with their matched clients for the foreseeable future.

Social Groups

We currently run three Your Time social groups for older people in Thanet – in Ramsgate, Westbrook and Garlinge – and two in Folkestone & Hythe called Stitch and Chat and Déjà vu. All are cancelled with immediate effect and for the foreseeable future. We’re currently in the process of talking with all attendees about the different ways we can stay connected.

Thanet Over Fifties Forum (TOFFS)

All meetings are cancelled for the foreseeable future. Please keep an eye out for updates via our website and/or the TOFFS Facebook page

Thanet Community Support Partnership (TCSP) - Central Referrals Service

We will continue to operate our referrals service as usual from Mon - Weds, 9am – 5pm. Please be aware that many of the services we would normally refer to may not be providing the same level of service(s) as they too respond to the Coronavirus emergency.

TCSP Networking Lunches

All monthly Networking Lunches held at Kent Innovation Centre are suspended until further notice. We will of course continue to keep everyone on the mailing list updated about your services during this challenging time so please do share updates and news items with us.

Taskforce Gardening Service

This service has now been suspended.

Money Matters

This service is now restricted to phone and online support.

Men’s Shed @ Paddlesworth Farm

This project has been postponed until further notice and we are currently exploring new ways of keeping the members connected.

We thank you for your understanding during these difficult and unprecedented times and will regularly update this page as the situation progresses.
