Why volunteer?

Volunteering is something everyone can do. Whatever your interests, wherever you live, whether you have a lot of time or just a little. If you want to change the world, your street or your CV, or maybe you want to give something back, make new friends, or gain a skill, there will be a volunteering opportunity that suits you. Everyone can volunteer; whatever your background, gender or your age, whether you are employed or unemployed or whether you have limited mobility.

What can I do as a volunteer?

Almost anything! Have a look on our website to find out what’s available in your area and follow us on Facebook and X (formerly Twitter) to keep up-to-date with all the latest opportunities. Whatever it is you would like to do, there’s a good chance an organisation out there is looking for someone just like you. If you don’t see anything that quite takes your fancy, then please get in touch and we will try to find you something that is right up your street.

How much time do I need to give?

It’s entirely up to you. Many roles involve just a few hours a week or month on a regular or flexible basis. Plus, there are lots of events that happen just once a year which simply need help in the run up or on the day of the event. No matter what you do or how much time you have, volunteering can make a big difference to your community and to you!

Will I be out of pocket?

This shouldn’t be the case as most organisations will often reimburse travel expenses.
